The True Nature of Consciousness

Divine consciousness, he said again, God. And I said, Well, what is the only thing in this world that can be divine thought? He says, God. I said, Well, how much more spiritual can you get? But he never got it. And to this day, he's still searching all over the world for the truth.

And here he was, he was standing listening to it, and he didn't recognize it. But that's okay because he wasn't ready.

And people will say, Well, what makes you ready? You make yourself ready. When you're ready, you will hear it. If you never get ready, you won't hear it. You might have to go through another lifetime and start all over again. But when you're ready, the truth will be there for you, no matter where you are.

02It lies inside0:55

You know, see, people, they go to India and they search for truth. They go to China and search for truth. They go up the Himalayas and search for truth. They'll never find it. Never. You know where you find it? You look in the mirror and you say, Aha, it lies inside.

And once you see that, your search is finished. There's no place to search. I've had so-called enlightened people come to me, see, many, many times to see me. And the second they got off that boat, I knew that they weren't. You know why? Because they were enlightened, supposedly, but they were still searching for the truth outside.

03It's all thought1:46

The only thought there were. There's that thought again, eh? Whatever you think the world is, that's what the world is to you. Whatever you think you believe, that's your belief system. It's all thought. If you think you're a sad person, you're going to be a sad person.

If you think you're a happy person, you're going to be a happy person. The thought creates the deeds.

See, nobody can change this world.

04The world's consciousness must rise2:23

I've said many times, for the world to change, the consciousness of humanity has to be elevated. Because right now, the conscious state of the world is in a deplorable condition. And this is why there's wars, atrocities, killings, etc., etc. And it's going to get worse.

Believe me, it's going to get worse unless the consciousness rises. And I've had therapists that will argue with me and say, Hey, Sid, just a minute. We've had conscious raising seminars for years and they don't work. No, they didn't. They wouldn't raise the consciousness.

05The true nature of consciousness3:11

They were telling you what you do with your consciousness. And if you ever realize the difference between what you do with it and the true nature of consciousness, then that elevates you, your consciousness. Then when you look out into the world, it looks different.

And that's what people have to do en masse, is lift their level of consciousness to look outside and see a different world. Then the world will change.

06Never become a follower3:46

I'm not trying to change anybody's life, change anybody's ideas. It's up to them. Because, you see, I've often said to people, don't believe what I say, otherwise you'll become a follower. And this is where followers are born. They listen to somebody preaching and they start following them.

And as soon as you do that, you've lost all control of your life. You have to look inside. You find the truth, then you know what to do. It's that simple. But never become a follower. I've been accused of having followers, and yet if you could tell me one, I'll take it all back.

There isn't any. I never allowed it. And maybe this is why I didn't go anywhere. This is why the masses didn't follow. But if the masses did follow, I would have to accept this, and I would lose.

And I will not lose what I've got by going down just to get people to follow, because I think followers are fools, innocent fools. But nevertheless, they're doing foolish things. And the people that allow them to do it, quite often, I guess you could call them con men, con women.

And that's what some of the therapists and… Social workers have done, but when they realize their mistake, they come back to the truth. But some never realize it. They want people to follow them, or they want, say they say, two psychologists speaking, and one is from the old way,

and the one is from the new way, from the principles. Now, the old one, if he doesn't hear, will not accept what's happening. So if the new one says, Well, I'm going to come down a level and come with you halfway, that's nonsense.

People used to say that to me all the time. Said, I don't have a damn clue what you're talking about.

So this is at the beginning. I had to learn. So I'd come down levels of consciousness, and they would still say, I still don't hear. So I'd come down to meet them on their level, and immediately that happened, they would argue.

And it didn't take me long to realize not to do that because I was wasting my time. And the way I found that is when I used to talk to maybe 200 people in a hall, and one person would get up and start arguing. And I'd want to help that one person so much that I would come down to soothe them, and they'd just keep arguing and swearing at me and cursing at me.

And it didn't take long, as I said, I realized, no, what I should be doing is talking to the person with the highest level of understanding. And when I did that, then everybody else gets the benefit, and that one person that's not listening would leave.

And this is what I tell many of the therapists now. If you're talking to a group, talk to the highest you can. Never mind the person that's going to argue, because when the intellect starts arguing, you can't, you can't change it. You can't change it. And that's the very strong advice I'd give to anybody that's trying to put this out.

07My hope for humanity8:10

Well, my hope for humanity is that the level of consciousness rises.

And when this does, this will let people get their own wisdom and run the world in a wise way, and all the wars and atrocities and everything else will all start to diminish. It'll start to vanish, and happiness will come. You know, I'll give you an example of that.

08A lesson from the war8:41

When I was a little boy during the Second World War, everybody hated the enemy. And the more of the enemy you could get killed, the better. Now, those same people before the war, if they heard anybody kill an enemy, they were astonished. They just approved of it totally, killing anybody.

The war comes along, the consciousness of the world drops, and everybody wants to kill everybody else. But when it's finished, they're all elated because they start getting their consciousness back. They start to get this higher level, and everybody starts to enjoy life, and nobody else wants to harm anybody.

And that's what I'm talking about right now. That consciousness is so low, we've got to get it up. And by getting it up, it's not talking what we do with our consciousness. We talk about the true nature of consciousness. And when you talk about the true nature of consciousness, this is what changes the lives of people.
