Waiting to Be Unraveled

Thirteen years ago when I first had this experience in Salt Spring Island, what was revealed to me was quite magical. And one of the things that I realized was the difference between philosophy and theosophy. Now, I know there are schools in this world that teach theosophy. But this is literally impossible unless they have found an actual theosopher. Now, the difference is philosophy we talk from a little mind, from our intellect, from our experiences in life, what we’ve read, seen, heard, what we believe, what we don’t believe, what someone else believes or disbelieves. But theosophy is one step beyond all philosophy because a theosopher, whether male or female, is someone who is bringing out wisdom from within themselves. And it’s information that is coming direct from source. Call it whatever you want, but it’s direct. It’s true. It is not a belief. It is an actual fact. It’s a spiritual fact.

And it’s very, very extraordinarily unusual to find such a person. And if you ever do, my advice would be to listen very, very carefully. Listen not to the words, but what the words are trying to convey because words in themselves, one talking truth, talking quite often in metaphors. And that is something that a mind can’t relate to. So the words are of no value, just listen very carefully. You must learn to listen all the time, not to one person but listen to life. Listen when you go for groceries. Listen when your children are talking to you. Listen to everybody. But that doesn’t mean you believe everybody. Just listen.

And this is an art which has been lost for many, many years. And it’s only the wise that learn to listen. Truly. Because it’s listening that brings out your inner wisdom. Because if you don’t listen, you listen with your past experience and your past experience is not what you’re looking for. You’re looking for something deeper. So when you find what you’re looking for, you’ll realize, like everybody else, that your past was of no value on your search at all.

Now, I realize that sounds contradictory to what everybody says because everybody thinks that their past experiences are so important. Well, they’re not. As a matter of fact, it’s your past experiences that get you into trouble, your past memories. You know how they say to forgive is to forget? A lot of people don’t realize that. You have to forget the incident of what happened in the past to bring sanity now. You see, a theosopher, just like a philosopher, can talk on any subject they wish because that’s their prerogative to talk on whatever they wish.

Now, a theosopher, no matter which subject they’re talking on or speaking about I should say, it will always be the same. Whereas, the philosopher—philosophy—everybody has their different opinions. But theosophy, there is no opinion because it’s just a simple spiritual fact. It’s a strange thing. I’ve heard people speak on theosophy, and yet when you talk to them they didn’t believe that such a thing existed. And this is where you have to learn to listen because there’s more to life than meets the eye. And this is why if a university was really listening and they heard such a person, that person, it’d be like a renaissance in philosophy. I guarantee if any university found a true philosopher, we’d have students coming from all over the world.

You see, theosophy on its own cannot be taught because when a theosopher actually speaks or one who’s called a theosopher actually speaks, what is heard is philosophy. And just imagine getting a certificate to being a theosopher, an unlearned process. That’d be impossible because there’s nobody in the world who could prove or disprove whether that theosopher was true or false, only the theosopher themselves. There’s no such thing as getting spiritual knowledge verified. That is an impossibility. The only verification that can possibly come is from within yourself, knowing that it is true.

Now this knowing I’m talking about is not arrogant, not at all, not an arrogant knowing like I know or you know or he knows. But it’s a very gentle knowing the very simple fact that you just know. And it’s truly, truly not the same kind of knowing. The mystical knowing that you read about, those mystical books, mystical characters such as [Mama _____ 07:54] in Second Chance or her grandfather in Second Chance. Such people, they have found the secret of the mystical wonders of thought and its relationship to life. They’ve found and discovered the secret of mind, but to unveil that has to come out as theosophy. And theosophy, again, cannot be heard from a little mind. It must be absorbed via feeling.

And once it’s absorbed via a positive feeling, this positive feeling starts to unravel the puzzle for you because there’s something beautiful inside you that’s coming out. It’s your own wisdom, not somebody else’s – yours. This is why many of the wise have always said “surpass your teacher.” Unless you do, you’re going to be stuck the rest of your life, waiting for one person, listening to one person. That’s the idea of going to university. That’s the idea of going to school is to become as wise as possible. This is why we’re lucky we have such schools, such universities. But believe me, as I said, the wise would always say “surpass your teacher.”

And I’m sure a wise teacher would love to see all his class surpass him and all become brilliant. Can you image the feather in the cap of the teacher that could do that? To unravel the puzzle of life or power of life to his students? Such a professor or teacher could go home satisfied in the evenings knowing that he’d done a good job or she had done a good job. And that’s the idea of a good teacher is to give it away as much as possible. But you know something? No matter how you try you cannot give it away. You cannot give anything away verbally. It must come from the student. But a good teacher has a way of bringing it out of the student, not putting it in.

Remember in the old days used to put it in with [violence11:12]? They’d have a strap or a cane and you'd get punishment and they would force you to put it into your head, force you to learn. You’d memorize and that’s all you’d done. You haven’t learned anything; you just memorized. Now, we’ve got wiser teachers now, and the idea of a wise teacher is to bring it out of the child or bring it out of the student because that’s where all intelligence lies. It’s within the boundaries of our own souls and our own soul is pure, unadulterated, spiritual intelligence, waiting to be unravelled.

The puzzle has been waiting to be unravelled. It’s been there since the beginning of time, but you must unravel this puzzle by yourself. This is where all your happiness will come via you. All your sadness will come via you, via your thoughts. It’s all thought. As human beings we have our thought, but life, as we know it, is a divine thought. It’s spiritually created from something we call God or the mystics would call source.
