Second Chance

Richard Sullivan arrives in Hawaii overwhelmed by grief, fear, and despair. His young wife has died suddenly, and shortly afterward he has been told that his own life may soon end. Hoping that the beauty and tranquility of Maui will offer some relief, Richard instead discovers that he has brought the same troubled thinking with him. Then, in the historic town of Lahaina, he meets Jonathan, an intriguing stranger whose humor and unconventional wisdom begin to awaken something Richard thought he had lost — hope.

Jonathan introduces Richard to Mamma Lila, an elderly Hawaiian woman whose compassion and enigmatic words touch him more deeply than his intellect can understand.
