Beyond Time, Space, and Matter is Sydney Banks’ deeply personal account of the extraordinary experience that changed the course of his life. In 1973, at the age of forty-two, Banks was working as a welder and struggling with insecurity when a simple conversation awakened in him a profound new understanding of life. What followed was an experience of universal love and a glimpse of a reality beyond the physical world — an experience that revealed to him the spiritual and psychological principles underlying all human experience.

Banks tells how this realization led him to leave his old life behind and move with his wife, Barbara, to Salt Spring Island, where people from around the world began arriving to hear what he had discovered. Interwoven with his memories are the recollections of psychologists, educators, friends, and others whose lives and work were transformed through encountering the Three Principles of Mind, Consciousness, and Thought. Warm, candid, and frequently humorous, the book is both the story of one man’s remarkable awakening and the beginnings of an understanding that would go on to influence psychology, mental health, and the lives of countless people.

This manuscript has never been published. It is recorded here so the account of his writing is complete.
