Foundations of Human Experience

Why life feels the way it does

We spend so much of our lives trying to fix how we feel by rearranging what's around us — and yet the feeling keeps moving. This is a gentle, four-week look at where our experience is actually coming from. Not a technique. A different place to look.

What this is really about

Most advice on feeling better points outward — change the circumstance, manage the thought, get the conditions right, and then, maybe, we'll feel settled. It's exhausting, and it never quite arrives.

This programme looks the other way. It's built around a simple, rather startling possibility: that experience is created moment to moment from the inside, through Thought — not, as it so convincingly seems, by the situation in front of us.

That's not a slogan to adopt. It's something to look at, for yourself, until it either shows itself or it doesn't. No steps to follow — we slow down and look, and see what becomes visible when we stop trying so hard.

“A small turn of the head — it changes what you see.”

You may recognise this
  • The same situation lands completely differently depending on the day — or the hour.
  • A worry that felt enormous last night looks almost weightless by morning, though nothing changed.
  • You've done the work, read the books, tried the tools — and still feel oddly far from settled.
  • Calm seems to arrive on its own, when you're not chasing it.
  • A quiet sense, underneath, that you've been looking in the wrong direction.

None of these are signs something's wrong — they're clues, pointing somewhere worth looking.

Who this is for
  • You're curious about the Three Principles and want to start from the ground up.
  • You've heard the ideas before, but they haven't quite landed.
  • You'd rather explore than be lectured at — you like a question more than a formula.
  • You're weary of managing your mind, and open to it not needing so much managing.

No prior knowledge needed — we start at the beginning.

The direction we'll be looking

Think of experience as a conveyor belt of thought, always moving, always delivering a fresh version of the world to us. We usually assume the world hands us the feeling.

What if it's the other way round? We won't be looking out at problems to solve them one by one. We'll be looking in — at how experience is made in the first place. A small turn of the head. It changes what you see.

What we'll explore
1

Where feeling comes from

The idea the whole series rests on — experience created inside-out. We take our time with it.

2

The great illusion

Why the outside-in story is so convincing, and what loosens when we simply notice it.

3

Thought in motion

Moods, worry, the swing between clarity and fog — seen freshly, as thought passing through.

4

Resilience that was already there

The quiet, self-righting capacity underneath it all — and what it means to trust it.

What you may begin to notice

More room

A little more space between you and a passing state.

Lighter worry

Concerns that don't grip quite so tightly.

Settling on its own

Calm that arrives without being engineered.

Fresh sight

Old situations looking different, on their own.

Kinder to yourself

Less self-management, more allowing.

A place to look

A direction you can return to, long after.

Offered gently — things people often discover, not promises.

“I came to this understanding as someone who'd tried the other ways first — and I remember exactly what it's like to hear these ideas and think, yes, but…. My way of exploring the Principles is gentle, careful and reflective. I'm not here to convince you of anything. I'm here to look alongside you, honestly, and to trust that what's true has a way of showing itself.”

A few questions
Do I need any prior experience?

None at all. This is the foundation — we start at the very beginning and build a solid footing together.

What if I can't make a session live?

Every session is recorded and yours to keep, so you can follow along in your own time and still be part of it.

Is this therapy or treatment?

No. This is educational and exploratory — a look at the Three Principles understanding. It isn't therapy, medical or psychological treatment, or a replacement for professional care.

How long do I keep the recordings?

They stay in your member area so you can return to them whenever you like.

Is it a big group or small?

Kept comfortably sized, with real room for conversation and questions — never a lecture hall.

What happens after I join?

You'll get a warm welcome email with everything you need — access to your member area and the session links.
