Do you have recordings of Sydney Banks that we don’t?
The archive here is large, but it isn’t everything. If you’re holding something of Syd’s we’ve never heard, we’d love to know.
For years Syd’s talks were passed hand to hand — a tape copied for a friend, a camcorder set up at the back of a room, a reel filed away and half-forgotten. What we’ve gathered is a great deal, but somewhere there are recordings we’ve never heard, and moments no one has placed yet.
If you’re holding something — audio, video, or anything else of Syd’s — we’d be glad to hear from you.
What we’re hoping to find
- Recordings we may not have — tapes, video, digital files, anything.
- A cleaner copy of one we do have — a better source than ours.
- Written material — letters, notes, early transcripts, photographs.
- A missing detail — where or when a particular talk was given.
Not sure whether we already have it? Tell us anyway — it’s far easier for us to check than for a recording to stay lost.
How this works
Just get in touch first — a short message is all we need to begin. From there we’ll work it out together, whatever suits you best:
- Send us a copy, if the material is already digital.
- Lend us the original — post it to us, we make a careful copy, and we send it back to you.
- Compensation — where it’s fair, we’re glad to discuss it and to cover any shipping. No need to settle any of that up front.
- Credit — if you’d like to be acknowledged for what you’ve kept safe, we’d be glad to. And if you’d rather stay unnamed, that’s just as welcome.
We’d only ask to confirm what you have first — so a short description, and a photo if you can, is the perfect place to start.
Looking for a talk you remember?
We gave the talks new titles — plainer ones, closer to what each is about — so a name you knew may have changed. If you can’t find something, tell us the old title or the old filename in the form above and we’ll point you straight to it.
